Episode #36 Gowri Varanashi & Mel Batson NGO CLAW (Climb like a woman)
July 7, 2026
In this episode, I’m joined by Gowri Varanasi and Mel Batson from Climb Like a Woman (CLAW), an initiative that has been encouraging and empowering women in the Indian climbing community since its first gathering in Hampi in 2018. We talk about how the project started as a beginner-focused event and has grown into a thriving community. This year’s event is taking place in Sethan, where CLAW is offering both beginner and intermediate courses, while also giving back to the climbing community by cleaning boulders and establishing new problems. Our conversation explores how CLAW started, what makes these courses different from a typical climbing camp, the values that drive the initiative, and the impact they hope to have on the future of climbing in India. If you enjoyed this conversation, please check out our previous and latest articles, follow Climb Like a Woman on Instagram, and support their work if you can. If you would like to donate, please get in touch with CLAW directly first via Instagram or email to find the best way to contribute. And if you’re coming to India and would like to support their work, reach out to CLAW directly as well. https://www.climblikeawoman.com https://www.instagram.com/climblikeawoman/?hl=de

Episode #35 Lise Billon
June 15, 2026
In this episode, I sit down with French alpinist Lise Billon during the Frankenjura Festival to talk about women in alpinism, adventure, storytelling, and the film Patagonian Chimeras. Together, we explore how ideas of heroism, identity, and our relationship with the mountains are evolving, and why adventure can be as much about self-reflection as achievement. Patagonian Chimeras was directed by filmmaker Guillaume Broust and follows Lise Billon, Fanny Schmutz, and Maud Vanpoulle on their ascent of Cerro Torre in Patagonia, blending expedition footage, animation, and personal reflection into a unique exploration of modern alpinism. Episode #34 Chiara Schmidt
March 26, 2026
Hazel Findlay has been at the cutting edge of climbing, either doing hard single pitch tradlines, like the ultra hard "Magic Line" at 8c+, a Ron Kauk line in Yosemite. She also goes big, having freed at least four big wall lines in the valley. She seems to love all sorts of rock climbing, may it be bouldering in Chamonix or sportclimbing in Spain.

We went for a late autumn session to La Forêt at Fontainebleau to chat with Charles Albert and Adarsh Singh about the climbing style in Font, but also about their recent encounter in India, where Charles was invited by the Indian climbing scene and Bernd Zangerl to sample some sharp granite blocs. Thanks for the support on this one, Shaun, Plippo K, and the rest — it was a bit of a logistical mission, carrying the stuff to the far end of Isatis… Music, Creative Commons: Sundown by Lobo Loco https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Lo... #bouldering #charlesalbert #boulderinglife
